Surfing is a surface water sport. The average board made of polyurethane or polystyrene foam covered with layers of fiberglass, cloth and polyester or epoxy resin. A Wetsuit is a garment, usually made of foamed neoprene, which is worn by divers, windsurfers, canoeists, bodyboarders and others engaged in watersports, providing insulation from the cold frigid waters, abrasion resistance and buoyancy. The insulation properties depend on bubbles of gas enclosed within the material, which reduce its ability to conduct heat. The bubbles also give the wetsuit a low density, providing buoyancy in water.

The World Tour is the men’s international Surfing event, which started in 1994 and has undergone a few changes in names and regulations. The Shark Island Challenge first started in 1997, and was a informal and local event organized by Nathan Purcell and Mark Fordham.
